Amoung the 50,000 plant species that exist in the world, 30,000 species belong to Iran Plateau, and among these 30,000 species, about 3000 species of flowers and bushes, each of which with a specific philosophical essence have been used in the patterns of Persian traditional clothing. One example of these flowers is "Lotus" whose historical origin date back to days of Archimedean era, Patterns comprising this flower could be seen in various locations in Persepolise, including the hall of a Hundred Columns. "Lotus" has not only been drawn on clothing, but also can be seen alongside statutes, works of stone cutting, textiles and visual arts. The philosophy behind "lotus" lies in the trinity of Avista period or Zoroastrian period. Accordding to Zoroastrian trinity, Ahura Mazda in on the foremost position of the triangle and on the two sides there stands Anahita and Mitra, the origin of any kind trinity lies in the Zoroastrian ethics. "Lotus" flower has it's roots in the earth, stalk in the water and is facing the sun. this flower is considered to e one of the religious symbols and an expression of honesty, pureness of soul, nice thinking, nice deeds and nice way of talking. It can be also seen as a smile on the lips. It has the message of peace for the world, it invites humankind to attempt to reach the light of the life and has the promise of this pure light for the whole world.
