✏️ Examples of when the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم cried….

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم cried on several occasions, but his crying was not in the manner of a raised voice and elevated sobbing, however his eyes would water and shed tears, and a gentle humming sound would be heard from his chest.

• When his son Ibrāhīm died in the year 10h (the year before the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم died) his eyes shed tears and he cried from mercy upon his son and said, "The eyes shed tears and the heart is saddened, but we do not say except that which pleases Allah, and indeed we are saddened upon your death o Ibrāhīm".[Bukhārī & Muslim].

• He صلى الله عليه وسلم cried when his grand-daughter was dying (daughter of his daughter Zainab). He held her and hugged her in his arms in mercy and compassion upon her.

• He صلى الله عليه وسلم cried upon the recitation of the Qur-ān when Ibn Mas'ūd رضي الله عنه recited Sūrah an-Nisā up to āyah 41.

• He صلى الله عليه وسلم cried when 'Uthmān bin Madh'ūn died.

• He صلى الله عليه وسلم cried when he visited the grave of one of his daughters.

• He صلى الله عليه وسلم would cry on occasion during the night prayer.

Monday 5th December
Hafr ul-Bātin Conference, Saudi Arabia, November 2022

Alhamdulillah we spent yesterday visiting the Scholars in Riyādh; Shaikh Fawzān & Shaikh ‘Abdul ‘Azīz the Muftī.

Today we departed after Fajr from Riyādh and travelled the 500km (310 miles approximately) to arrive in Hafr ul-Bātin just before Jumu’ah.

Shaikh ‘Abdullāh ad-Dhafīrī delivered a beautiful khutbah on the importance of Knowledge and also spoke about the narration wherein it mentions that Allāh does not take away knowledge by stripping it from the chests of men, but rather by the deaths of the Scholars.

After Jumu’ah the Shaikh announced the conference to everyone and mentioned the virtues of travelling for knowledge and sitting with the Scholars.

The masjid was already filled with a large number of students from all around Saudi Arabia and abroad, brothers from Jeddah, Madīnah, Dammām, Riyādh etc as well as abroad - it will likely be even busier when the remainder of the students arrive Insha’Allah.

A hospitality tent has been set up outside the Masjid, and it was a fantastic atmosphere straight after Jumu’ah, Shaikh ‘Abdullāh ad-Dhafīrī حفظه الله was greeted by literally half of the congregation, students crowded around, almost in a literal line, and the Shaikh greeted every single one of them, one by one.

May Allāh preserve our Shaikh, and we greatly look forward to this 1-week long conference, with lessons from the Shaikh himself along with Shaikh ‘Abdullāh al-Bukhārī حفظه الله and Shaikh ‘Azzām as-Shuwai’ir حفظه الله.

Hafr ul-Bātin Conference November, 2022

Alhamdulillah this conference is a blessing, as Shaikh ‘Abdullāh al-Bukhārī reminded us last night in an extra sitting after ‘Isha (not on the official schedule), that everyone should recognise this as a blessing upon them, that they have been able to attend and benefit from the Scholars.

There are lessons after Fajr, ‘Asr, Maghrib, followed by a special sitting with Shaikh ‘Abdullāh al-Bukhārī حفظه الله after ‘Ishā.

Students have attended from all around Saudi (& abroad), and the subjects being taught are highly beneficial.

• Sahīh al-Bukhārī, Chapter regarding the Virtues of the Companions
• Sīrah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم
• “Sunnah” of al-Imām al-Humaydī
• 6 Principles

I requested from Shaikh ‘Abdullāh ad-Dhafīrī حفظه الله to add another book “The Reality of the Salafi Manhaj” (which is one of his own books he wrote), and alhamdulillah he agreed so we will be doing that too Insha’Allah in this conference.

Shaikh ‘Abdullāh al-Bukhārī حفظه الله as always gave some very important advice regarding the etiquette students should be upon and advised us to stay away from poor behaviour in wasting time talking about, and being engaged in, useless speech and questions etc, & highlighted his disappointment at how some students behave and what they ask about etc.

By Allāh this is what a student needs; to travel & be in the presence of the Mashāikh the likes of Sh.’Abdullāh ad-Dhafīrī, & Shaikh ‘Abdullāh al-Bukhārī, to sit before people of knowledge like them & learn from them, to recognise and understand how a student should be etc etc…the importance of travelling to the Scholars cannot be underestimated, it was a Sunnah of the Salaf - as Shaikh ‘Abdullāh ad-Dhafīrī حفظه الله highlighted on Friday after Jumu’ah.

Not to mention the great opportunity we all had in visiting Shaikh Sālih al-Fawzān & the Muftī حفظهما الله, and some of us had a private sitting with Shaikh Mustafā Mubram حفظه الله too…alhamdulillah.

A truly blessed trip so far, and we still have 5 days of the conference to go yet, May Allāh bless it further.
